Florence Chiropractor Overall Wellness, Optimum Health the Goal
Optimum health and overall wellness is the goal of Advantage Health and Wellness Center, and our Florence chiropractor has long been achieving that goal for the Darlington, Timmonsville, Effingham, and Coward communities. Our office has been serving the Pee Dee region for more than 50 years, offering a drug-free, non-invasive, natural, and "whole person" approach to health care. Our chiropractors, Dr. Steven McKay and Dr. J. Craig Strickland, continue the tradition combining a number of techniques, treatments, and dietary supplements for a successful way of life that keeps patients healthy and free of pain.

Florence Chiropractors Bring Wellness to Others
Both of our chiropractors chose to enter the field after personal experiences with headaches, back and neck pain.
A car accident injury was the impetus for Dr. McKay. While a senior in high school, he flipped an SUV five times and totaled the vehicle. Although he went through the traditional route of care that started at the emergency room and continued on to an orthopedist, neurologist and physical therapist, he still suffered from headaches, back pain, neck pain and shoulder pain intense enough to cause trouble sleeping. Despite numerous over-the-counter medications, nothing worked to alleviate the pain of his personal injury. After nearly one year of suffering, his physician finally told him to see a chiropractor.
Rather than continuing to attempt to mask the pain with medications, his chiropractor designed a plan to treat Dr. McKay’s specific ailments. He was able to sleep after a few treatments and had even greater results after a couple of months. His previous symptoms were gone, his quality of life increased, and he knew he had to enter the field.
A graduate of the University of South Carolina and Sherman College of Chiropractic, Dr. McKay doubles as our Florence chiropractic clinic director. His chiropractic certifications include those from the South Carolina Board and National Board and he is a member of several associations including the South Carolina, American and International Chiropractic Associations.
A personal injury while water skiing at age 18 eventually prompted Dr. Strickland to seek care in the field he would eventually pursue. Like Dr. McKay, Dr. Strickland was first sent down the traditional route for his back injury, which included two herniated discs in his lower back. His back pain was unbearable, radiating down his right leg, making it impossible to engage in sports or even sit through class.
His prescribed muscle relaxants and pain killers made studying even more difficult, and offered little relief. Epidural steroid injections caused more disruptions to his life yet offered little relief. Back surgery finally helped alleviate the pain, but it also cost Dr. Strickland an entire college semester of time to undergo the procedure and subsequent rehabilitation.
A graduate of Clemson University and the Palmer College of Chiropractic, Dr. Strickland holds certifications from the South Carolina Board, North Carolina Board, and National Board.
Their combined passion for healing and experience in the field brings a high level of chiropractic care in Florence for the increased wellness of their patients.
